Oh my goodness the time has flown by this spring and summer. We returned home to SNOW! The very thing we wanted to get away from. It not only snowed the week of our return, but it snowed on April 20th. Unheard of around here! What a crazy homecoming. We were welcomed home with our kids and parents greeting us at the airport and a fully stocked kitchen! We attended a wonderful spring party with dear friends, jumped right into lunch with the girls, golf with Dave, lunch with the girls, golf with Dave, girls weekend with my Mom and sisters, golf with Dave, a visit to PLU to listen to Tim Houghland's senior recital, oh, and a great visit with Jon's sister Micky in Puyallup. We jumped right back into condo owning chores, planted a small herb garden and dahlias of course. I started swimmer-izing (don't think that's a word!)at the local pool 3 days a week. Love it. I also bought some hiking boots and hiked around the Wenatchee foothills and then my first real hike up to the Enchantments, Stuart and Eightmile lakes with hiking buddy Debbie M. We bought matching hiking sticks at the Apple Blossom craft fair and date them everytime we "conquer" another hill.
Dear friend Judy is also a great hiker and very good sport when we "lose" the trail! 
We celebrated Father's Day this year at Cheri and Farzan's beautiful new property in Tonasket with about 60 other friends, we gathered 'round the campfire and roasted marshmallows. We enjoyed renewing and staying with Gay and husband Kory in Omak that same weekend. They have a beautiful home that they have lovingly built themselves.
Jon is really into walking the riverfront trail each day and has kept me informed about the wildlife he sees there. He is busy also with his Mobile Meals commitment each month and really enjoys chatting with his "customers".
We bid a sad farewell to our darling Minister of Music, Rebekah this summer. She has flown off to Seattle and so we followed her to hear her perform the end of July. We visited with friends that are traveling to NZ and filled them in on the things to do in our "favorite" place, and we tried to stay in touch with our many friends we have in NZ via email (what a wonderful invention - thanks Al Gore!) We hope to see many of them again on our return.
I have been given a clean bill of health from all my doctors, what a blessing. They just want me to "go and have fun" but next time I see them they want to see pictures. And I nearly forgot to mention one of the highlights of my summer was the chance to participate in a Casting for Recovery. CFR is a non-profit organization that sponsors workshops all over the country for breast cancer survivors. The seminar is provided free of charge to the participants, and it is a thrilling 2 1/2 days of hands on fly fishing indoctrination. I've included a picture of me in my waders (yes, they do make your _ _ _ look bigger!)

While I was off "casting" Jon and his buddy Jerry went on a "shakedown" cruise with Jerry's new camper and boat. Jon is tutoring Jerry on the delights of retirement as Jerry will be joining the ranks in 2009. They had a very "bonding" weekend and hope to do it again. Judy and I will have to "bond" on a shopping trip next year! Maybe for a beautiful new hat
Well, that is just about it from our house. We are leaving in just one short week and for those of you who haven't heard, we are spending the winter/summer in Christchurch. That's in NZ on the South Island. I'll plan to blog while we are in Christchurch.
